Phone Book - Help

Quick Search

In the phone book you can search for staff (the green box) and students (the blue box).

In the staff box you can search by (parts of) the name, department, division, room, phone number, or any combination.
For example,

• Jansen - returns all staff with jansen in their last name.
• Jan*sen - also returns staff with the last name Janssen.
• Jansen CTW - restricts the search for staff at the faculty CTW.
• K. Jansen - returns all Jansens with a K in their initials.
• Kees Jansen - finds Kees Jansen only if his/her first name is listed in the phone book.
• charlie - returns the phone numbers within the building Charlie (Central Entrance/Surveillance).
• recep - returns the phone numbers of the receptions in several buildings.
• 1234 - returns the staff with phone or room number 1234.

In the student box you can search by (parts of) name, study programme, or any combination. Students' email addresses are available, but phone numbers are not available.

Click on the name of the staff or student for extra details, eg email address.

Only the first 50 results are shown. If you want to narrow your search, or you need an overview of an building, department, faculty or study programme, use 'Advanced Search'.

Advanced Search

For staff you can narrow your search by entering

• last name, maiden name, or parts of names (without prefixes)
• one or more initials
• title (e.g. prof or dr)
• correct email address, as shown in the phone book
• faculty or department, with or without divisions
• building
• room number (or partial room number)
• correct phone number

For students you can narrow your search by entering

• last name or parts of names (without prefixes)
• one or more initials
• correct email address, as shown in the phone book
• study programme

To limit the search, enter more information. When accessing the phone book from off campus, the results are limited to a maximum of 50 results. You can use a VPN-connection to display the full list.

Add the phone book as search engine to your browser

You can search for UT staff with Internet Explorer or Mozilla FireFox by adding the phone book as a search engine to your browser. Then you don't need to select the phone book from the website, instead you can use the search bar on your browser.

Internet Explorer 7 and 8

To add the phone book in Internet Explorer, click on the arrow, on the right of Search Options, in the upper right-hand corner.

Then click on Add Search Providers and select 'UT Phone Book'.

Mozilla FireFox 4 and higher

To add the phone book in FireFox, click on the arrow on the left of the Search Bar.

Then click Add 'UT Phone Book'.
