The course consists of two parts: Acoustics (Druyvesteyn, 6x2 hours) and Active sound control (Berkhoff, 5x2 hours) . In Acoustics a number a basic concepts are treated, such as: the wave equation, plane- and spherical waves, acoustic impedances, energetic quantities, reflection/transmission in pipes and room acoustics. During the lectures auditory demonstrations of the human aspects of hearing are given (these demonstrations are not part of the examination). The second part concerns active control of harmonic and stochastic sound fields, optimal and adaptive control, causal inverse filtering, multichannel control systems, decentralized control, sound radiation sensors, radiation modes. |
